Long Beach, CA (September 24, 2024) A tragic accident occurred outside of a firehouse in Long Beach on Tuesday morning, September 24th, 2024. KTLA 5 reported that a male pedestrian was struck and killed by a fire truck in the Belmont Shore neighborhood right around 12:30 a.m.
It was barely a new day at 12:30 a.m., as a fire truck left a Long Beach firehouse. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking past the firehouse in the dark. As the fire truck pulled out of the fire station driveway, the driver didn’t see the pedestrian until it was too late. It struck the pedestrian, described only as a male, knocking him to the ground. The fire truck stopped and rushed to the pedestrian’s side, only to find that he had been killed in the accident.
Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene right in front of the firehouse in Long Beach. The firefighters waited in the dark for a coroner to arrive. Officers are investigating this collision to determine exactly what happened to cause this tragic accident. The victim was identified as Michael Shaun Ross, a 61-year-old.
