Santa Clarita, CA (September 6, 2023) A pedestrian sustained fatal injuries after being hit by a train in Canyon County on Monday. Law enforcement said the incident was not suicide but rather an unfortunate accident.

The accident happened near Ruether Avenue and Gold Triangle Road in the Canyon County neighborhood. It occurred around 6:30 p.m., according to Lt. Richard O’Neil, Watch Commander for the SCV Sheriff’s Station. Passengers aboard the train as well as crew members were all interviewed by law enforcement.
The train stopped 700 feed from where the collision occurred. Metrolink lines were delayed on the Antelope Valley line as deputies investigated the accident. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
