Bakersfield, CA (October 29, 2024) A female pedestrian was walking along Panama Lane, early on Sunday morning, October 27th, when she was struck by a pickup truck. The accident took place near Enos Lane on the west side of Bakersfield, at approximately 5:30 a.m. Following the collision, the woman was struck by a second vehicle that fled the scene.
It was still dark outside as a female pedestrian walked along Panama Lane in Bakersfield. Reports indicated that the speed limit along this road is 55 mph. A man driving a pickup truck at approximately 55 miles per hour struck the woman. He immediately stopped and called 911, but as she laid in the roadway with serious injuries, a sedan approached. It ran over the woman and then quickly fled the scene, officers reported.
When authorities arrived, they saw the pickup truck and its driver. The woman had already succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The driver of the pickup truck gave his statement about what happened when he hit the woman, then he told the police officers what he saw when the other car hit the woman. He described the vehicle as best as he could in an attempt to help officers find the hit-and-run driver.
Officers continue to investigate this fatal pedestrian accident in Bakersfield. They are working to figure out what figure struck the woman and are determined to find the driver responsible and bring him or her to justice.
