Apple Valley, CA (June 17, 2024) Shock and concern swept through the town of Apple Valley on Friday, June 14th, as news spread of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. It happened in the 10000 block of Kiowa Road just after 2:00 p.m. and left the pedestrian with serious injuries, officers reported.
A pedestrian walked along Kiowa Road in Apple Valley on Friday, June 14th. As they walked, a blue 2016 Kia Forte approached them. For reasons that are still unknown, the vehicle struck the pedestrian in the 10000 block of Kiowa Road, officers reported. The impact threw the pedestrian several feet through the air before they landed, hard, on the ground. The driver of the vehicle pulled over on the right shoulder of the road and called 911.
Police officers arrived and found the Kia Forte with damage to its passenger side windshield and hood. It was sitting on the shoulder of the roadway with its female driver anxiously waiting for authorities. The pedestrian was lying on the ground, alive, but seriously injured. Officers called for a medical helicopter (Mercy Air) to come to the scene and transport the pedestrian to Victor Valley Global Medical Center for treatment for serious injuries.
The driver of the Kia cooperated with authorities following the collision and officers are investigating this accident to determine exactly what happened on Kiowa Road in Apple Valley Friday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing as officers work to determine what caused this pedestrian accident.
