Santa Ana, CA (August 9, 2024) A tragic accident took place in Santa Ana on Wednesday, August 7th, claiming one person’s life. 23-year-old Peter Bryan Duran Morquecho was skateboarding on Main street when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. It all happened around 5:30 p.m., near 15th Street, officers reported.
23-year-old Morquecho was riding a skateboard on Main Street, headed south. Initial reports indicated that he was riding along the west curb of the street, not far from 15th. As he rode, a vehicle approached, striking the man. He was knocked from the skateboard and landed on the ground, hitting his head. The force left Morquecho unconscious, according to police reports.
The Santa Ana Police Department arrived at the scene and found Morquecho on the ground, unconscious. They began life-saving treatment until the ambulance arrived at he scene. Paramedics quickly transported the victim to a nearby hospital to receive emergency treatment for life-threatening injuries. The medical staff did everything they could but Morquecho succumbed to his injuries. Sadness filled the room as he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, following this tragic accident. At this time, officers do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in this fatal collision. Investigators are working to determine exactly what caused this deadly accident, as well as who was at fault.
