SAN FRANCISCO, CA (NOVEMBER 4, 2023): 64-year-old actor Richard May died in a pedestrian accident at an intersection in the Lower Nob Hill area of San Francisco last week.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the incident occurred on Saturday, October 28th at around 11 a.m. in the 800 block of Post Street. A white BMW reportedly ran through a red traffic light, causing a collision with another vehicle. The BMW then struck an additional pedestrian, May.

The 64-year-old was on his was to rehearsal for the play “Death of a Salesman” at the Taube Atrium Theater.
San Francisco authorities responded to the Post and Hyde intersection and discovered May, who has suffered fatal injuries and unfortunately died at the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities also arrested the driver of the white BMW. The specific charges have not yet been released.
It remains unclear why the BMW ran the red light, causing the fatal multi-party accident. The identity of the driver has also been withheld.
The African-American Shakespeare Company has cancelled its production of “Death of a Salesman” in the wake of the death of Richard May.
