Salinas, CA (September 12, 2024) On the evening of Wednesday, September 11, a driver struck and killed a pedestrian in Salinas near East Alisal and Eucalyptus Street.
The 27-year-old driver hit the pedestrian in front of a Foods Co. A witness reportedly followed the car and obtained their license plate information to provide to police.
The victim was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld at this time.
Officers located the suspect vehicle, pulled the driver over, and noticed damage on the front right end. They booked the motorist into Monterey County Jail on charges of hit-and-run causing death or injury, unlicensed driving, and vehicular manslaughter.
An investigation into this terrible crash is ongoing.
