Chula Vista, CA (October 24, 2023) A 17-year-old was killed on Sunday night, October 22nd, after trying to run across MTS Trolley tracks in Chula Vista. The Chula Vista Police Department said the accident occurred about 10:16 p.m. near Industrial Boulevard and Naples Street.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found a teenager lying on the ground near the tracks with severe head trauma. Officers began life-saving measures on the teenager, Chula Vista Police Department Sgt. Anthony Molina told NBC San Diego News. The teenager eventually succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

Witnesses told officers that the teenager was attempting to run across the tracks before the Metropolitan Transit System Trolley crossed, but they didn’t make it, according to the Chula Vista Police Department. Officers said they are unsure if the teenager was a passenger on the trolley of just a pedestrian passing by the area.
No other injuries were reported and the Metropolitan Transit System released a statement saying there were slight delays as officers investigated the accident. No other information is available at this time.
