Fremont, CA (July 3, 2024)
On Sunday, a terrible crash occurred that left one person deceased.
It happened in the area of Stewart Avenue and Christy Street. Early in the morning at about 3:20, a woman was pushing a shopping cart in the northbound lanes of Christy. A vehicle then came up, struck her, and fled the scene. The Fremont Police Department has not reported any details about the vehicle–it’s unclear if they have located it yet.
Officers also reported that it seemed like the woman was run over by a second vehicle after the first hit. That driver also failed to remain at the scene.
The pedestrian, who was apparently 48 years old, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
This was the fourth fatal traffic collision to happen in Fremont this year.
