Selma, CA (October 24, 2023) An elderly woman was struck by an on-duty police officer’s vehicle on Friday evening, October 20th, according to the Selma Police Department. The accident was called in to the Selma Police Department just before 8:00 p.m.

Officers at the scene said an on-duty police officer was driving down the street when they struck the 72-year-old woman with their patrol vehicle. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the woman injured, but they said her injuries were not considered serious. She was transported to Community Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for injuries that are not life-threatening, according to authorities. Officers said she is healing and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Selma Police Department reported that they do not consider drugs or alcohol to be factors in this collision. They are currently investigating the accident to determine what exactly happened in Selma and what caused the on-duty police officer to hit the pedestrian.
