Woman Struck & Killed By Car In San Jose

Pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicle in Pasadena.

San Jose, CA (November 7, 2023) A woman tragically lost her life on Monday night, November 6th, when she was fatally struck by a car in San Jose, according to authorities. The accident happened right around 11:00 p.m. at Chesbro Avenue and Blossom Hill Road.

The woman was said to be in a wheelchair and was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by an SUV in San Jose’s south side. The driver immediately stopped and waited for police officers. Video was taken at the scene and showed the SUV stopped in the crosswalk with an empty wheel chair sitting in the street. It all happened across the street from a local gas station.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and loaded the female into an ambulance. She was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. He identity hasn’t been released and is awaiting the notification of her next of kin.

Authorities told FOX 2 KTVU that the city has been working to prevent tragedies such as this. They’re heading multiple campaigns including the “Walk Safe” project that focuses on high-risk traffic areas. Police confirmed that this accident was the 43rd fatal accident ant the 45th traffic death in San Jose this year. Sadly, it also marks the city’s 24th pedestrian death for the year.
