As vehicles traveled along Highway 99 in Bakersfield on Friday morning, a big rig suddenly lost control in the No. 4 lane. Officers are still unsure about what happened, but the big rig drifted to the right and slammed into a tree on the side of the highway. It then crashed into a Ford F-150 pickup truck in the No. 3 lane before rolling onto its side and colliding with the center divider wall.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and hurried to the vehicles, ready to give medical aid to anyone who had been injured. They found two people with injuries, according to reports. Two people inside the Ford pickup truck were transported to Kern Medical with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers are working to determine what caused this big rig collision in Bakersfield on Highway 99. A tow truck arrived at the scene to remove at least one of the damaged vehicles and crews began clearing the highway of glass and debris.
