DESERT CENTER, CA (June 28, 2024)
A wild collision occurred between a semi truck and an SUV in Desert Center early this morning.
At about 10:07 a.m., the big rig was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 east of Corn Springs near mile marker 117. For unknown reasons, it crashed into a Toyota RAV4. Somehow, this caused the trailer of the truck to split in half.
The debris was so extensive that California Highway Patrol declared it a traffic hazard and blocked all lanes of the freeway.
Police arrived at the scene a little before 10:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing and details are still pending. At least one ambulance was called to the scene. It’s unclear how many passengers were affected or how many injuries have been reported.
