Butte County, CA (July 3, 2024) A surprising accident involving a fire engine occurred in Butte County this morning. Officers reported that the collision took place around 7:30 a.m. on July 3rd, and left two fire fighters injured. The chaotic accident took place near Richavale Highway and Aguas Frias Road.
It was a sunny morning in California as a fire engine headed through Butte County. Suddenly, and for reasons that are still unknown to authorities, the fire engine swerved and ended up rolling, according to reports. It finally came to a stop on the side of the roadway, on its roof. Large pieces of debris formed a trail towards the damaged fire engine, officers reported.
Police officers and another fire truck arrived at the scene after receiving the 911 call. They found the fire truck overturned on the side of the road completely smashed and destroyed. Paramedics hurried to the fire truck and found two fire fighters with injuries, according to reports. They loaded the two injured people into an ambulance and took them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officers investigated the scene and are trying to understand what happened to cause the driver of the fire engine to lose control. Crews had to work to get the fire engine back on its wheels and removed from the scene. They then got to work removing all of the debris and glass from the side of the road, as well as the roadway, officers reported. They have said that this investigation is ongoing.
