Apple Valley, CA (June 26, 2024) A head-on traffic accident occurred on Dale Evans Parkway on Monday, June 24th, involving a big rig. Reports indicated that the semi-truck collided with another vehicle near the 15 Freeway at approximately 5:30 a.m. Reports indicated that the big rig was headed towards the Walmart Distribution Center at the time of the collision.
The sun was beginning to rise over California on Monday morning around 5:30 a.m. A semi-truck was making its way to the Walmart Distribution Center on Dale Evans Parkway, not far from the 15 Freeway. As it headed south, a Hyundai was heading north on the same road and suddenly drifted into the southbound lanes. The semi-truck had no time to react and the two vehicles collided, head-on.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the semi in the middle of Dale Evans Parkway. The Hyundai, however, was several feet away, sitting in the desert area off the road. The car was completely totaled and the driver had sustained serious injuries, according to reports. Paramedics carefully removed the driver from the Hyundai and placed them on a stretcher. They were then loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment for undisclosed injuries.
Officers closed Dale Evans Parkway for a few hours as they investigated the scene. A tow truck was called to remove the badly damaged Hyundai from the scene. Crews cleaned up the debris and glass that were left behind from the accident so the roadway could be reopened to traffic. Officers took a statement from the big rig driver, who walked away with no injuries. They also talked to witnesses at the scene as they work to understand what happened in Apple Valley that morning.
