Escondido, CA (July 31, 2024) A chaotic collision occurred in Escondido that left a passenger trapped inside a vehicle, reports indicated. The accident involved a semi-truck and two other vehicles on Interstate 15, not far from State Route 78. Reports indicated that the accident occurred just after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, July 30th.
A blue Mazda was reportedly moving in and out of lanes, rather erratically, when it slammed into the side of the semi-truck. Following the initial collision, a teal Toyota hit the semi-truck. The collision caused the vehicles to stop in the lanes of traffic and debris was thrown all over the interstate. 911 calls began coming in about the accident and witnesses said someone was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Authorities arrived at the scene and found the three damaged vehicles and quickly checked for anyone in need of medical attention. They found a passenger trapped inside one of the vehicles. Officers used special tools to free the woman form the vehicle as paramedics waited to give medical assistance. Reports indicated that at least one person was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
Detectives at the scene began their investigation and are working to determine what caused this three-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 in Escondido. They are also working to piece together who was at fault in this accident. Officers requested a tow truck to come to the scene and remove at least two of the damaged vehicles from the freeway.
