(Westchester, CA) A car crashed into the local bookstore The Book Jewel, causing a fire in Westchester.
On Friday, April 25 at about 1:15 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department reported the crash occurred at The Book Jewel, located at 6259 W 87th Street and La Tijera Boulevard.
Upon investigating, police reported a man drove while intoxicated and crashed his car into the back of bookstore. Moments later, the vehicle caught on fire.
To extinguish the flames, the Los Angeles Fire Department dispatched to the scene and put out the fire. After assessing the crash site, police determined speed to be a factor in the crash at The Book Jewel.
