RIO LINDA, CA (September 23, 2022) – A pregnant woman lost her baby when a teenager running from police crashed into her car in Rio Linda on the night of September 16.
According to Fox 40, a street takeover or “sideshow” took place earlier in the night involving over 100 vehicles. California Highway Patrol officers attempted to disperse the crowd and end the event when a 17-year-old driving a Honda Accord attempted to evade a traffic stop.
After leading the police on a chase, the teenager ran a red light at Dry Creek Road and Elkhorn Boulevard before crashing into the pregnant woman driving a Honda Civic. CHP officers say that the woman lost her baby as a result of the crash.
The woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries along with a passenger in her vehicle that was also complaining of pain and injuries.
The Honda Accord driven by the teenager also carried another 17-year-old and two unidentified adults. All of them were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The teenage Honda driver was then arrested and booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall and faces multiple charges following the pursuit, collision and injuries and death.
CHP officers have ruled out alcohol or drugs as factors in this crash.
