6-Year-Old And 1 Adult Injured When Drunk Driver Hits Several Cars In Covina

6-year-old and a woman hospitalized after drunk driver crashes into several cars.

Covina, CA (August 5, 2023) A driver was arrested for not only driving under the influence on Friday, August 4th, but also for child endangerment. Police officers said the driver hit several vehicles, including an ambulance, and ran a red light before crashing through a wall.

It all happened around 11:30 a.m. when a Nissan Armada, driven by the suspect, struck a vehicle at Wingate Street and Grand Avenue in Covina, California. The Armada then hit a 2nd car at Banna Avenue and Cyprus Street, according to Sgt. Derek Gonzales. The Armada then crashed into a 3rd vehicle Cypress Street and Dodsworth Avenue. The vehicle didn’t stop there! The driver of the Armada then ran a red light at Grand Avenue and Cypress Street and hit at least 2 more vehicles, Sgt. Gonzales said.

The driver then hit a parked ambulance that was empty, before crashing through a cinder block wall that separates a business park and an alley. Gonsalez told Pasadena Star-News that the SUV finally came to a stop near a home on Cypress Street.

Upon arrival, crews discovered that the man, who seemed intoxicated, had his 6-year-old daughter in the vehicle with him. The child was injured in the collision and transported to a local hospital where she was admitted.

A woman, who was in one of the many vehicles that the Nissan hit, was also seriously injured. She was taken to a hospital and admitted because of her injuries.

Others were also injured but were treated and released. The driver of the Nissan wasn’t injured. He was arrested for DUI and taken to Covina Jail.
