Madera, CA (September 12, 2023) A pedestrian was struck and killed on Monday night while crossing a street in Madera. The Madera Police Department said the accident happened around 8:10 p.m. when the pedestrian walked into oncoming traffic.

Officers received the call of a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in the area of Madera Avenue and Maple Street. They arrived to find an adult male, in his 70s, dead. According to authorities, the pedestrian walked right into the path of an oncoming vehicle, a small pickup to be precise.
The pedestrian was killed on impact and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver stopped and cooperated with police officers following the crash. Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol in this collision, but are still investigating.
