San Diego, CA (September 21, 2023) A pedestrian was killed on Wednesday evening when she was hit by a van. The San Diego Police Department said officers responded to the call around 8:16 p.m.

It happened at the intersection of Pacific Heights Boulevard and Mira Mesa Boulevard in San Diego. A woman, age 57, was walking south on Pacific Heights Boulevard when she began crossing Mira Mesa Boulevard, according to Officer Robert Heims. She crossed the intersection against a red light and stepped directly in front of the approaching van.
The 2016 Chrysler Pacifica van, driven by a 40-year-old man, couldn’t stop in time and struck the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in this collision. The department’s Traffic Division is investigating this accident.
