San Francisco, CA (October 29, 2023) A pedestrian was standing on the sidewalk in San Francisco when they were fatally struck by a vehicle, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Authorities received the call about the tragic accident a little after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28th.
Crowds appeared in the area of Lower Knob Hill and Post Street following a crash that killed an innocent pedestrian on the sidewalk. Witnesses at the scene told Fox 2 KTVU that a white BMW ran a red light and was struck by a black Audi SUV at the intersection of Hyde and Leavenworth. The force from the collision caused the BMW to spin out of control. It went up onto the sidewalk where it struck a pedestrian.

The San Francisco Police Department arrived at the scene to find two damaged cars and a pedestrian down, surrounded by a group of bystanders. Paramedics arrived to assist anyone who was injured and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
According to the SFPD, neither of the vehicles’ drivers were injured in this collision. An owner of a local convenience store in the area, identified only as Frank, told Fox 2 KTVU that police officers had the driver of the BMW down on the ground and arrested in seconds. “They put their knee on his back and arrested him right away.” He also said that they arrested him so quickly that it was as if they had been chasing him. The San Francisco Police Department reported that no charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
Officers are still investigating this accident.
