JAMESTOWN, CA (NOVEMBER 9, 2023): 18-year-old Felix Varrasso is hospitalized following a motorcycle crash in Jamestown involving a pickup truck.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on Saturday, November 4th on Peoria Flat Road at the intersection with O’Byrnes Ferry Road. Reports indicate that 65-year-old Jeffrey Fiscalini was stopped in his 2011 Chevy Silverado at the intersection, waiting for traffic to clear to signal for a left turn. At the same time, 18-year-old Felix Varrasso was traveling about 55 mph northbound on O-Byrnes Ferry Road on his 2015 KTM motorcycle. CHP spokesperson Nick Norton stated that Fiscalani looked toward his left and saw Varrasso coming, but felt he had time to merge into traffic and began making the left turn.

The Chevy truck instead veered directly into the path of travel as the motorcycle. Varrasso attempted to swerve left to avoid the truck, but was unfortunately unable to miss the right front of the truck. The motorcycle impacted the truck, and Varrasso and his vehicle were thrown over the right shoulder of O-Byrnes Ferry Road.
Norton also added that “Fiscalini’s truck came to rest in a barbed wire fence on the west shoulder of the roadway. He exited his vehicle to check on the rider, and he did not sustain any injuries.”
Emergency personnel responded to the scene shortly after, and requested airlift for Varrasso to Memorial Hospital in Modesto. His current condition is not known.
Modesto authorities continue to investigate this unfortunately Jamestown motorcycle accident.
Liability Modesto Motorcycle Crashes
Motorcyclists have a naturally small profile and are more likely to be overlooked by other drivers. Many collisions are due to drivers that make dangerous lane changes. According to California Vehicle Code 22107, “No person shall turn a vehicle from a direct course or move right or left upon a roadway until such movement can be made with reasonable safety and then only after the giving of an appropriate signal in the manner provided in this chapter in the event any other vehicle may be affected by the movement.” There are a number of factors that could potentially contribute to a motorcycle accident including:
- Speeding
- Drunk driving
- Driver distraction
- Inclement weather
The family of any victim that died in a motorcycle accident may be able to seek aid through a wrongful death claim. Damages can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are. There are, however, statute of limitations associated with civil claims. Failing to act within the statute of limitations may result in a permanent forfeiture of your rights.
