Bakersfield, CA (November 14, 2023) – Up to five people sustained various injuries and one person was killed on Friday, November 10th, due to a rollover crash on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield, California. Based on police reports, the incident began around 10:44 p.m. between Mt. Vernon Avenue and Gateway Avenue.
Authorities report that police had stopped a driver in the area for a simple traffic stop, but the driver refused to comply and drove away. The police pursued the driver along Chester Avenue until he lost control causing the vehicle to flip.

The driver, an adult male, sustained major injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. He will be identified when appropriate by the Kern County Coroner’s Office. Paramedics were called to the scene to assist with various injuries. The car contained up to five young passengers, all of which sustained some level of injury. They were taken by ambulance to various hospitals for treatment.
