Chula Vista, CA (November 28, 2023) At least one person was killed on Monday night, November 27th, following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista. The fatal collision was reported at approximately 10:36 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said, near Palomar Street.
It all started when a car stalled on Interstate 5, blocking the middle lanes of the freeway. “This caused a chain reaction crash,” the California Highway Patrol said. A photojournalist for NBC 7 reported that at least 8 vehicles were involved in this crash. A sedan that was involved, was split in half following the collision, according to reports.

Officers had to close at least 3 of the lanes on Interstate 5 following the crash. One person was killed in this multi-vehicle collision and paramedics pronounced them dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released and the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will make the victim’s identity public after their family has been notified.
