RAMONA, CA (June 8, 2022) – A 90-year-old man was killed Monday when he crashed his Toyota Prius head on into a Volkswagen Jetta according to the San Diego Tribune.
California Highway Patrol officers report that the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Mussey Grade Road and State Route 67 near Ramona.
The 90-year-old man attempted to turn left onto the southbound lanes of SR-67, but as soon as he pulled into the intersection he was struck head-on by a 49-year-old woman in a Volkswagen Jetta heading northbound on SR-67.
The elderly man’s Toyota was pushed and struck by another vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man in a Hyundai Elantra heading southbound on SR-67.
Despite emergency response’s efforts performing CPR, the 90-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities believe that alcohol was a factor in this accident, although details on which of the drivers were affected is still unknown.
The decedent’s name is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
