Thomas Carl Asper Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash On Highway 395 In Bonsall

One seriously injured in two-vehicle crash on I-580 in San Leandro.

Bonsall, CA (February 8, 2024) An early morning drive turned deadly in Bonsall on Wednesday, January 31st. 86-year-old Thomas Carl Asper was tragically killed in a two-vehicle collision on Old Highway 395, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Asper was driving a maroon Toyota Venza SUV on Old Highway 395 near the Interstate 15 off ramp. At the same time, an 18-year-old woman from Wildomar was driving a black Jaguar XF from the I-15 off ramp. Officers said she stopped at the intersection, but then pulled out, right in front of Asper’s Toyota. The two vehicles collided and the impact caused Asper’s Toyota to flip.

Paramedics were called and rushed to the scene of the accident. They found Asper with serious injuries and transported him to Palomar Medical Center for treatment. The emergency medical staff did everything they could to save Asper’s life, but sadly, right before 9:00 a.m., he succumbed to his injuries.

The 18-year-old who was driving the Jaguar was not injured in this collision. She remained at the scene and cooperated with police officers following this tragic accident. While authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in this collision, they are still investigating to try and determine exactly what happened on Old Highway 395 that morning.
