Apple Valley, CA (March 5th, 2024) A collision at an Apple Valley intersection left three people injured on Sunday evening, March 3rd. Two people were found in critical condition following the wreck, while one other sustained minor to moderate injuries, officers said. The collision took place at the intersection of Rancherias Road and Kiowa Road just before 7:15 p.m.
It was a fairly peaceful Sunday evening as two vehicles, a KIA Optima and a gray Ford SUV, approached the same intersection in Apple Valley. For reasons still unknown, the two vehicles crashed at the intersection of Rancherias Road and Kiowa Road, leaving 3 people with injuries.
The Apple Valley Fire Protection District arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles in the middle of the intersection with severe damage. The Ford had rolled over, officers said. Firefighters rushed to help those involved and found that two of the victims were trapped inside one of the vehicles. Firefighters had to use specialized tools to remove the victims from the wreckage. Both people were seriously injured, authorities said. Two medical helicopters arrived at the scene and rushed the two victims to a local trauma center where they were treated for critical injuries.
The third victim sustained minor to moderate injuries in the collision and was taken, via ambulance, to a local hospital to receive treatment.
Crews cleaned the debris and glass from the scene as tow trucks hauled the damaged vehicles from the roadway. Investigators gathered evidence at the scene and are determined to learn what caused this Apple Valley crash and who was at fault.
