North Park, San Diego, CA (March 18, 2024) A 35-year-old motorcyclist was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured in a North Park intersection on Monday morning, March 18th. The accident happened at Ivy Street and 33rd Street around 11:15 a.m., according to reports.
A 2017 Kia Forte was heading south on 33rd Street in the North Park area of San Diego late Monday morning. At the same time, a 35-year-old man was riding a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Ivy Street. The two made it to the intersection at the same time and, for reasons still unknown, the Kia slammed into the Motorcycle.
The San Diego Police Department arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist on the ground in serious condition. The Harley-Davidson motorcycle he had been riding was several feet away, smashed and damaged. Paramedics loaded the motorcyclist into an ambulance and rushed him to a local hospital with serious injuries. Emergency medical personnel also reported that the man had serious fractures to his arm and leg following the accident.
Detectives are working to determine what caused this awful collision and who was at fault. The motorcycle had to be hauled away and debris had to be cleared from the roadway. Anyone who has information regarding this accident should contact the police.
