Lancaster, CA (April 13, 2024) Louie Martin Cervantes, 46, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Thursday night, April 11th, in Lancaster. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene following the accident. It all happened just after 7:00 p.m. on Valeport Avenue, according to officers. Reports indicated that the pedestrian and the driver of the vehicle had been in a “disturbance” before the fatal accident occurred.
Witnesses reported seeing Cervantes in some sort of altercation with the woman driving the vehicle, mere minutes before the accident occurred. It happened in the 16000 block of Valeport Avenue in Lancaster, not far from 162nd Street and Avenue O. Deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station arrived at the scene and found Cervantes lying in the middle of the road. A good Samaritan was giving the pedestrian first aid when authorities arrived at the scene. Paramedics arrived and, unfortunately, pronounced Louie Martin Cervantes dead at the scene.
The woman driving the vehicle immediately fled the scene. Deputies are determined to find the vehicle and, in turn, locate the driver responsible for this fatal collision. Officers said they are not sure what the motive was in this hit-and-run accident, or if the victim and the suspect knew each other. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation into this hit-and-run accident in Lancaster.
