Northridge, CA (April 15,2024) A tragic accident unfolded in Northridge on Monday morning when Kristen Long, 33, was killed by a hit-and-run driver. The fatal collision occurred just before 3:00 a.m. near the intersection of Business Center Drive and Tampa Avenue. Long was pushing a shopping cart at the time of the accident.
It was the middle of the night in Northridge as a woman pushed a shopping cart along the road, near the curb. At the intersection of Business Center Drive and Tampa Avenue, a vehicle approached and struck the pedestrian. Instead of stopping and calling for help, the driver hit the gas and fled the scene, heading north towards Nordhoff Street. The pedestrian was left alone in the roadway with fatal injuries.
The Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the scene and found the woman lying on the ground, motionless. Paramedics rushed to perform life-saving measures, but the pedestrian had, sadly, succumbed to her injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities and they waited for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiners to send a coroner to the scene.
The City of Los Angeles is officer a reward up to $50,000 to anyone who has information on this hit-and-run that leads to a conviction, officers said. They are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8036, and ask for Detective Otrosina.
