Van Nuys, CA (April 29, 2024) The community of Van Nuys was saddened to hear about a pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run accident. The fatality occurred just after 2:00 p.m. on Sepulveda Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Two pedestrians were hit by the fleeing vehicle. Officers said that one died at the scene and the other was rushed to a hospital in serious condition.
The two pedestrians were walking along Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys on Friday afternoon, April 26th, as a pickup truck approached them. Without warning, the vehicle hit both pedestrians, knocking them to the ground. Instead of stopping, though, the driver of the truck hit the gas and fled the scene, leaving the injured pedestrians behind.
Police officers arrived at the scene on the 6900 block of Sepulveda Boulevard and found the pedestrians on the ground. One of the pedestrians was unresponsive. Paramedics began life-saving measures but the vicitm’s injuries were too extensive. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene and called the coroner. The second pedestrian sustained serious injuries in the collision and was rushed to a local hospital via ambulance for treatment.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department are investigating this pedestrian hit-and-run and are determined to find the vehicle responsible. In doing so, they also hope to find the driver who fled the scene, leaving two injured people behind.
