Cristobal Sanchez-Perez Killed, Two Injured In Moorpark Collision

4 injured in two-vehicle crash on Highway 299 in Trinity County.

Moorpark, CA (May 3, 2024) A chaotic and tragic four-vehicle collision occurred near Moorpark on Thursday, May 2nd. The tragedy claimed the life of 43-year-old Los Angeles resident, Cristobal Sanchez-Perez, and left two passengers with injuries, according to reports. The deadly crash took place on State Route 118 between Moorpark and Somis, not far from Balcom Canyon Road.

Traffic on State Route 118 began to slow down on Thursday afternoon, May 2nd, but after 3:00 p.m. As vehicles approached the backed up traffic, they adjusted their speeds. As cars slowed and traffic backed up on the highway, a black Ford Raptor and a black Honda Civic approached the traffic jam. The two vehicles slowed down, as not to hit the vehicles in front of them. A white Ford Transit-250 van approached the slower traffic, but didn’t slow down, reports indicated. The van hit the back left side of the Honda, which pushed it into the back of the Ford Raptor. The van then crossed the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic where it collided, head-on, with a white Toyota Highlander.
