Las Vegas, NV (May 7, 2024) Shock spread through downtown Las Vegas on Monday following a hit-and-run accident that left two people with injuries. The two pedestrians were on the sidewalk when a vehicle hit them at East Charleston Boulevard and South 4th Street. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene, according to reports, leaving one of the pedestrians with life-threatening injuries.
A light-colored pickup truck was heading north on South 4th Street in the Las Vegas Valley as two pedestrians were on the sidewalk. Officers said that, according to initial reports, the pedestrians were lying on the sidewalk. The vehicle drifted, leaving the roadway, and went onto the sidewalk at approximately 11:40 a.m., hitting the two pedestrians. Following the accident, the driver of the pickup truck corrected the vehicle by getting back on the roadway, before leaving the scene.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene and found the two pedestrians on the sidewalk. One had sustained life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition, according to reports. Paramedics transported both victims to a local hospital to receive further treatment for their injuries. One sustained minor injuries and was released after being treated. The other pedestrian was admitted and remains in critical condition following this accident.
Evidence was gathered at the scene and officers are doing everything they can to determine what caused this accident. They are also resolved to find the pickup truck involved in this collision, and in doing so, hope to find the driver responsible for this hit-and-run accident.
