Sacramento County Collision Kills 2 Adults, Leaves 3 Children, 1 Adult Hospitalized

Sacramento County, CA (May 14, 2024) The community of Sacramento County was left with heavy hearts following a collision that claimed two lives and seriously injured three children. The head-on collision claimed the lives of a 26-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman. It also left a 10-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl and a 2-month-old girl with serious injuries. The collision took place on Highway 160 just after noon, according to reports.

The 26-year-old man was driving a gray Nissan SUV south on Highway 160. The 29-year-old woman was riding in the front seat and the three children were in the backseat, according to reports. As they headed along the highway, for reasons still unknown, he swerved into the northbound lanes. At the same time, a silver Lexus SUV was heading north and had no time to react. The two vehicles collided, head-on, at relatively high speeds.

Emergency crews hurried to the scene and found the Lexus and the Nissan in the middle of the northbound lanes with major damage. Pieces of debris, both big and small, littered the roadway in every direction. Paramedics hurried to the vehicles to see if anyone needed medical assistance. Inside the Nissan, they found the man and the woman both unresponsive. Officials said they had received fatal injuries in the accident and they were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Three children were found in the backseat of the vehicle, ranging from 2 months old to 10 years old. All three had sustained significant injuries in the accident, but were alive. Officers did their best to comfort the children as paramedics loaded all three into ambulances and rushed them to a local hospital to receive treatment.

The driver of the Lexus was also found alive, but he too, had sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was carefully removed from his vehicle and placed on a stretcher before being rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Officers investigated the scene and reported that they believe alcohol may have been a factor in this traumatic accident. Tow trucks had to come to the scene and haul the destroyed vehicles away and crews grabbed their brooms and cleaned up the glass and debris from the highway.
