Culver City, CA (May 31. 2024) The community of Culver City awoke to news of a traumatic collision that claimed two lives. A man and a woman were both killed in this fiery crash on the Santa Monica (405) Freeway, officers reported. The tragedy took place at approximately 2:13 a,n, near National Boulevard between a Toyota Prius and a commercial truck.

It was the middle of the night in Culver City, California, as vehicles traveled along the 405 Freeway. The quiet night was suddenly filled with sounds of tires squealing and metal colliding as two vehicles crashed in the northbound lanes. A Toyota Prius and a commercial truck collided for reasons still unknown, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Erik Larsen. Following the collision, the Prius suddenly burst into flames.

The dark sky was lit up with emergency lights and sirens grew louder as emergency vehicles approached the scene. Officers with the California Highway Patrol were the first on the scene. They found the Prius in flames and waited as the Ls Angeles Fire Department arrived. Firefighters quickly put out the flames and rushed to see if anyone was in the vehicle. A man and a woman had been inside the vehicle and, sadly, neither survived. With heavy hearts, firefighters pronounced the two victims dead at the scene and called for a coroner.

At this time, there is no news as to whether the driver of the commercial vehicle was injured in this fatal collision. The CHP had to close all of the lanes on the freeway for several hours and issued a SigAlert as they investigated the accident. They are still working to determine what caused this fiery collision on the 405 Freeway that claimed two lives. They are also determined to figure out who was at fault. The burnt and smashed Pruis had to be hauled from the scene and crews worked as fast as they could to remove the glass and debris from the freeway.
