Two Killed In Wrong-Way DUI Collision Near Boulder City

Woman struck and killed by vehicle while walking in Anaheim.

Boulder City, NV (June 2, 2024) The community of Boulder City mourned the tragic loss of two innocent people on Saturday, June 1st. A DUI driver was driving the wrong way on Interstate 11 when they hit another vehicle, head-on. The traumatic accident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. and led to the at-fault driver’s arrest, according to the Nevada State Police.

Vehicles headed along Interstate 11 in Bolder City on Saturday afternoon, when suddenly, near mile marker 6, a vehicle began driving the wrong way. The vehicle was heading down the wrong side of the highway at a high rate of speed when it collided head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle had no time to react as it saw the wrong-way vehicle heading right towards it. The impact left both vehicles completely destroyed and debris and glass flew in every direction. Tires squealed and vehicles began trying to go around the accident.

The Nevada State Police Department quickly arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles in the middle of the roadway, badly damaged. Paramedics rushed to see if any of the vehicles’ occupants needed medical attention. Sadly, they found the driver and the passenger in one of the vehicles unresponsive. They were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports.

The occupants of the wrong-way vehicles were all alive. The driver had sustained minor injuries and was suspected of intoxication. They were arrested at the scene, according to the Nevada State Police. There were two juveniles in the vehicle with the DUI driver. They were both taken to a local hospital to be evaluated following the collision.

Officers closed the U.S. 95 and the southbound Interstate 11 interchange exit ramp as they investigated the scene. Tow trucks had to remove both of the wrecked vehicles from the scene and crews had to clean up debris and glass that were left all over the roadway.
