Ione, CA (June 19, 2024) The community of Ione was left in shock following a two-vehicle accident on State Route 104. The collision occurred just after 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 88 on June 9th. The crash left one person with injuries, according to reports.
It was midmorning in Ione as vehicles headed to and from destinations along State Route 104 and State Route 88. A Ford Mustang and a Tesla were both heading towards the intersection, where the two highways meet, when they collided in the intersection. The cause of this collision is still unknown, officers reported. The two damaged vehicles blocked the intersection, causing traffic to back up, reports indicated. Debris was thrown all over the intersection, as well.
The California Highway Patrol received the 911 call and hurried to the scene. Officers encouraged motorists to take an alternate route and directed traffic away from the intersection. Paramedics at the scene found one person with injuries, according to reports. The injuries were said to be non-life-threatening, which means the victim will make a full recovery.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol Traffic Crash Department began gathering evidence at the scene. They took statements from witnesses and took their time working on the case. They are working to determine what caused this accident as well as who was at fault.
