Male Pedestrian Killed in Oildale Hit-and-Run on Airport Dr.

1 injured in a collision involving a stolen pickup in Valencia.

Oildale, CA (June 25, 2024) A tragedy occurred early this morning near Bakersfield when a hit-and-run driver struck a pedestrian.

California Highway Patrol reported that the collision happened around 2:46 a.m. south of Washington Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a male pedestrian lying in the slow lane of Airport Drive. Investigation revealed that when the pedestrian was walking, a vehicle was heading southbound on the same road and in the same lane. The speed at which it was travelling is unknown at this time, but it struck the victim.

Unfortunately, the driver fled after the crash. Authorities pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The hit-and-run is still under investigation. Officers are searching for the driver who left the pedestrian behind. As of the most recent report, it’s not clear if they even know what the driver’s vehicle looks like. They ask anyone with information about this incident to call California Highway Patrol Bakersfield.
