Moorpark, CA (June 26, 2024) Late Sunday night, a pedestrian was killed in Moorpark in a tragic collision.
The victim was an 88-year-old man who was found lying next to the road on the 118 Freeway. When emergency medical services arrived, they noticed his serious injuries and tried to perform life-saving measures. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Authorities say the crash happened at about 11 p.m. west of Montair Drive.
Tragically, the person who hit the man fled the scene. Witnesses reported to police that they saw a large, dark pickup truck driving away, westbound, after it struck the victim.
Now, an investigation is underway as officers search for the driver who committed this hit-and-run. The California Highway Patrol’s Moorpark office is asking anyone who may have information about this terrible crash to contact them right away.
