Victorville, CA (June 30, 2024) The community of Victoville was saddened to learn that one of their own had been killed in a car accident. 55-year-old Elizabeth Faamaligi was killed in a three- vehicle collision and one other person was injured. The deadly crash took place on Thursday afternoon, June 27th, at approximately 1:16 p.m.
It was just after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27th, as vehicles headed through the intersection of Eucalyptus Street and Amargosa Road in Victorville. A gray Kia Sorento, a white BMW 328d and a silver Toyota Camry were driving along with the flow of traffic. Suddenly, the three vehicles collided, blocking the roadway. Airbags deployed on all three vehicles and all three sustained major damage, officers reported.
The Victorville Sheriff’s Station sent deputies to the scene as soon as the call came in, according to reports. American Medical Response as well as the Victorville Fire Department also arrived at the scene. Paramedics rushed to the three vehicles in search of anyone in need of medical care. The Kia driver, a female, was found with serious injuries, reports indicated. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the BMW, identified as Faamaligi, sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision. Authorities at the scene requested an air ambulance to take her to a trauma center. Officers reported that she was later taken from the helicopter and placed in a ground ambulance, due to the severity of her injuries. Faamaligi hung on for a while as the medical team at Loma Linda University Medical Center worked to save her. However, her injuries proved to be too severe and, sadly, she succumbed to them while at the hospital. With heavy hearts, authorities pronounced Elizabeth Faamaligi dead at the hospital.
Officers aren’t certain what caused this fatal, three-vehicle collision and are asking anyone with information to contact Deputy R. Castillo or Deputy R. Anselm at the Victorville Police Station. Officers investigated the scene and took statements from witnesses as well as those involved in the collision. Officers called tow trucks to the scene to remove the damaged vehicles and crews worked as fast as they could to remove the debris and glass from the roadway.
