Pomona, CA (July 2, 2024) A multi-vehicle collision occurred on Saturday, June 29th, that claimed one person’s life and left 2 others with injuries. The fatal accident occurred on the 60 Freeway in Pomona, right around 3:00 a.m., according to reports. The collision involved at least three vehicles and wasn’t far from Lemon Avenue.
Darkness had settled over the town to Pomona at 3:00 a.m., as motorists continued along the 60 Freeway. For reasons that are still unknown, a Honda and a Tesla collided on the 60 Freeway, according to reports. A third vehicle was also involved in that accident and ended up overturned near the left shoulder. Debris and glass littered the roadway in every direction. Other drivers who witnessed the accident, stopped and began CPR on one of the victims.
The California Highway Patrol quickly arrived at the scene, along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. They found one person trapped inside their vehicle and the LAFD had to use the jaws of life to free them. The same good Samaritans who performed CPR on one of the victims, assisted fire fighters in freeing other victims from their vehicles, according to reports. They found three people with serious injuries. Unfortunately, one of them succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims were rushed to a local hospital, via ambulance, to receive treatment.
The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into this multi-vehicle collision. They gathered evidence and took statements from the good Samaritans at the scene who witnessed the accident. The cause of the accident is still unknown but officers are working as quickly as they can to determine the cause, as well as the person responsible.
