Compton, CA (July 3, 2024)
A tragedy took place in Compton late Tuesday evening. At about 9:03 p.m., California Highway Patrol was dispatched to Keene Avenue and Rosecrans after receiving word about a pedestrian in need of help.
Details are still coming out, but initial reports state that the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled. The hit-and-run was so bad that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, but at this time, it does not seem that California Highway Patrol has been able to locate the driver who struck the pedestrian last night.
Update: The woman who was struck has been identified as Regina Hernandez, a 54-year-old from Compton.
