Las Vegas, NV (July 3, 2024)
59-year-old David Brooks was severely injured when he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Mt. Rushmore Parkway and Nellis Boulevard. While vehicle traffic was heading south, Brooks was biking north in the same lanes.
According to reports from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Brooks crossed over a raised center median and ended up in front of an oncoming Dodge Dakota. The driver of the Dodge clipped the back tire of the bike, and Brooks flew into the southbound lanes of Nellis Boulevard. Then, an approaching Chrysler 300C Touring struck him.
The driver of the Dodge was found to be under the influence. He was arrested. The driver of the Chrysler was not charged with anything.
As of the latest reports, Brooks still remains in critical condition.
