Reno, NV (July 8, 2024) Two people were killed when the car they were in rolled over on I-80 west near Robb Drive on Wednesday, July 3.
It happened a little before 11:00 p.m. and caused significant backups that went for miles on the highway.
According to Nevada State Police, two people were driving in a car that struck a guardrail for unknown reasons. Reports seem to indicate that they were the only two people in the car, but it’s unclear at this time which person was driving. Tragically, both of them died as a result of the crash. Christian Alicea, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene when authorities arrived. Jacob Merritt, 25, was rushed to Renown Regional Medical Center, but he sadly passed away there.
When the initial collision occurred, Alicea and Merritt’s vehicle crashed into one other car. Apparently, no one from the second car was significantly injured to the point where they had to go to the hospital.
Nevada State Police say that they will release more details at a later time.
