San Diego, CA (August 13, 2024) A terrible crash occurred in San Diego on Friday, August 2. A family was gathering for a funeral in Sorrento Valley when tragedy struck at an already devastating time.
90-year-old Corazon Lange, a grandmother of seven, had traveled from Los Angeles to be with her family for the funeral. After the service, the group headed to lunch, and Lange was in the backseat of an SUV.
As they traveled down Carroll Canyon Road, a white car came speeding around a blind corner. It then crossed the yellow line and crashed head-on into the SUV. Lange’s niece, Shirley Weinmann, was in a car following behind. She witnessed the two vehicles collide head on, the rears of both going airborne.
Five family members, including Lange, were taken to the hospital. Tragically, Lange succumbed to her extensive internal injuries four days later.
Police reportedly suspect that the 26-year-old driver of the white car was impaired.
Two family members are still hospitalized with serious injuries as the family reels from the accident and makes plans for a funeral. Shirley Weinmann has established a GoFundMe to assist with their next steps.
