Tarzana, CA (August 16, 2024) A 73-year-old man from Reseda named Perry Jan Kurtz was tragically killed by a car while walking in Tarzana on Thursday, August 15.
It was about 11:20 p.m. when officers heard about a collision at 19563 Ventura Boulevard. Witnesses told LAPD that they saw a person in a dark sedan strike the pedestrian, who was walking outside of a crosswalk. The driver fled the scene.
LAPD made a statement that the pedestrian was struck and thrown in an easterly direction. The fire department pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police were able to locate the hit-and-run suspect at his residence and arrested him.
Perry Kurtz was a comedian who has appeared on America’s Got Talent, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and several other shows over a career that spanned multiple decades.
