Oakland, CA (August 21, 2024) A teenager was tragically killed in a hit-and-run suspected DUI on Monday, August 19.
At about 6:30 p.m., Mardenia Carrillo Lopez, 17, was walking in a crosswalk in the 7200 block of International Boulevard when she was struck by a vehicle. Soon after, the fleeing motorist crashed into another car in the 8400 block.
Alameda County officers arrested the driver and believe alcohol was a factor in the collision. Mardenia’s mother was also in the crosswalk with her daughter, and she too sustained injuries. She was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.
