Yuba County, CA (September 3, 2024) A fatal two-vehicle collision, caused by a DUI driver, occurred in Yuba County on Monday, September 2, 2024. The accident happened right around 5:30 a.m. on Highway 70, not far from the McGowan Parkway off-ramp. One person lost their life and three others were left injured, according to official reports.
A Toyota SUV was headin along Highway 70 in Yuba County, early on Monday morning. As the 47-year-old woman drove, she suddenly noticed headlights in front of her. 24-year-old Alannah E. was driving a Buick the wrong-way on Highway 70. The driver of the Toyota had no time to react and the two vehicles collided, head-on, in the dark hours of morning.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find the two vehicles with severe damage. Unfortunately, they found the driver of the Toyota deceased, and pronounced her dead at the scene. Paramedics found three other people with injuries. A passenger in the Toyota and a passenger in the Buick both sustained serious injuries in the accident, officers reported. They were both rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers determined that the 24-year-old behind the wheel of the Buick had been driving while under the influence. She was arrested at the scene for felony DUI causing injury, as well as gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. After her arrest, she was transported to a hospital via medical helicopter to receive treatment for injuries.
