Fontana, CA (September 5, 2024) Sadness fell over the community of Fontana after an innocent person was killed during a police pursuit. The fleeing vehicle collided with another vehicle, killing the innocent driver, officers reported. It all happened at the intersection of Beech Avenue and Cherry Avenue, right around 1:15 p.m.
Officers attempted to pull over a white SUV in Fontana on Wednesday afternoon, September 4th, 2024. The driver of the SUV failed to stop and instead fled, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit. The driver of the SUV sped through the intersection of Beech Avenue and Cherry Avenue, running a red light. A red Mustang was driving through the intersection on a green light, reports indicated, and ended up in the SUV’s path. The SUV slammed into the Mustang at a high rate of speed.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene and found the SUV disabled following the collision. They hurried to the Mustang, which had sustained major damage. Sadly, the driver of the Mustang had been killed in the collision. Authorities at the scene pronounced the victim dead at the scene and requested a coroner. Officers then turned their attention to the driver of the SUV. He was placed under arrest at the scene and faces multiple charges, officers stated. The driver was taken to a hospital to receive medical treatment but remains in police custody.
Update: The victim of the crash has been identified as 64-year-old Richard Pshock.
